This festival takes place on the 9th of January every year at the streets of Quiapo which is a small area of Manila. Thousands of people take part in the parade showing their belief and faith in Lord. The Black Nazarene a life sized statue of Christ carrying a cross, is carried through the area by barefooted men. The statue has been placed at Saint John the Baptist Church since 1787. The Catholics from all over Manila come to procession in hope that they might get the chance to touch the image and take blessings with them. People also throw towels towards the guards of the statue and ask them to rub the towel so that they could take away some of the power.
